About This Photo Censor Tool

What is this tool?

The Photo Censor Tool is a web-based application that allows you to easily censor sensitive areas of your images. It's perfect for protecting privacy, hiding personal information, or obscuring content you don't want to be visible in your photos.

How to Use the Tool

  1. Upload an Image: Click the upload area or drag and drop an image file (JPEG, PNG, etc.) into the designated area.
  2. Select Censor Type: Choose from three censor types:
    • Blur: Applies a Gaussian blur effect to the selected area
    • Pixelate: Creates a pixelated effect (adjust pixel size with the slider)
    • Black Bar: Covers the area with a solid black rectangle
  3. Adjust Pixel Size (for Pixelate): If you select the Pixelate censor type, use the slider to control how large the pixels should be (from 2px to 50px).
  4. Select Areas to Censor: Click and drag on the image to create rectangular selection areas. As you drag, you'll see a semi-transparent red overlay showing the area that will be censored.
  5. Manage Censored Areas:
    • Use Undo Last Censor to remove the most recently added censor
    • Use Clear All Censors to remove all censored areas while keeping the image
    • Use Download Censored Image to save your edited image
    • Use Clear/Reset All to start over with a new image

Tips for Best Results

  • For best quality, start with high-resolution images
  • Use the Black Bar censor for maximum obscurity
  • Blur and Pixelate censors work best when you want to maintain some context while hiding details
  • You can combine multiple censor types on the same image by changing the censor type between selections
  • If you make a mistake, use the Undo button to remove the last censor you added
